Roof Applications
Adding a security system on a roof is rarely planned during the construction phase of a building. In reality, architectural demands often supersedes security needs. As a result, an outdoor security system for rooftop applications must be : invisible from the ground, maintenance free and immune to false alarms caused by snow accumulation, birds, vibrations caused by HVAC equipment or climatic changes. For non-metellic (i.e.: Wood or cement) rooftops, the sensor cable could be installed on the interior side of the roof. For tar rooftops the sensor cable is simply placed on the membrane roof surface and held in place with additional spots of tar.
If the sensor cable is installed on top of a metal flashing or roof top, non-metalic stand-offs must be used to elevate the sensor cable at least 8 inches from the metal. This configuration is very easy to install and service. The detection field remains at 3 feet in diameter to detect intrusions or extrusions.
